i know its a bit strange asking career advice on a z forum but i've seen stranger posts on relationships, etc =P some of you are aware that i decided to leave jpmorgan and i recently received an offer with another wall street firm for a stock broker position. anyone here has experience with this profession, or know how it really is from the inside? the tough part is that the pay is substantially lower than what i got paid at jpmorgan. however, some of you guys informed me that the pay potential later on is A LOT higher than staying on the tech side. with the terrible market conditions, low starting salary, and a wednesday deadline, i need to make a decision. i'm trying to get all the viewpoints i can get from anyone and everyone i can think of. its basically a 2 year training program where they certify you for a few licenses (series 7, 63, and some insurance exams). three rotations for the first two years on salary (low). then comes commission afterwards. other alternative is to go e-commerce with a consulting firm and get paid pretty decently (but might be tough to get since the labor market is so tight). i have to let them know in two days so...any input on the stock broker position? by the way, thanks to those who have already given me some advice on the matter.
